Postmortem

On 15 January, 2024 at approximately 13:00 UTC, some customers reported that newly deployed Linodes were not able to connect to the network. Our administrators determined that an invalid configuration had affected the availability of a piece of our infrastructure, causing newly deployed Linodes to experience a delay in network connectivity. The configuration was corrected as a short-term solution. To prevent reoccurrence of the issue moving forward, a software update was deployed on 18 January, 2024.

Resolved
As infrastructure improvements were completed on January 18, and no observed connectivity issues persist in our Dallas data center, we will now consider this incident resolved. If you continue to experience problems, please open a Support ticket for assistance.

Update
After additional monitoring, we haven’t observed any reoccurrence of the issues that caused this incident. Careful monitoring will continue in Dallas while we implement infrastructure improvements to address the root cause. We expect this to be completed by Jan 18.
