Beginning at approximately 16:50 UTC on November 4, 2024, a configuration change intended to address a localized issue was inadvertently applied to a broader scope of our infrastructure as the result of a manual error. This resulted in connectivity issues when accessing Linode resources in our US-IAD (Washington DC) region.
This configuration change was reverted upon identification. After further analysis, this reversion mitigated the impact at approximately 17:00 UTC on November 4, 2024, not 17:25 UTC on November 4th as noted on the status page. We have implemented procedural and tooling updates to prevent this type of issue in the future.
This summary provides an overview of our current understanding of the incident given the information available. Our investigation is ongoing and any information herein is subject to change.
