On October 28th, 2025, starting at 16:05 UTC, the Linode API experienced intermittent performance degradation. Affected customers would have seen timeouts when attempting to use the Linode API and Cloud Manager during the period of impact. After investigation, it was found that the cause was a recent change made to our systems, which impacted the availability of frequently-used API endpoints. The decision was made to roll back this release to the previous version, and this action mitigated the issue. This was completed at approximately 18:00 UTC on the same day.
To prevent recurrence, we have implemented additional checks when rolling out new features, as well as additional monitoring to help us quickly detect and proactively address any problems that may arise during a rollout.
