On March 5, 2026, between approximately 08:45 and 10:00 UTC, we experienced connectivity issues in our Frankfurt datacenter.
During the impact window, customers may have experienced intermittent connection timeouts and errors for services deployed in the Frankfurt datacenter.
Our investigation established that during a planned maintenance in the data center, router cables were connected incorrectly due to human error. As a result, customers could have experienced intermittent connectivity issues during the impact window.
To resolve the issue, we have corrected the data center cabling.
To help prevent similar issues in the future, Akamai will reinforce maintenance procedures by ensuring technicians clearly understand the scope of work and adhere to documented maintenance instructions and verification steps during planned maintenance.
