Emerging Service Issue - Object Storage - SEA

Incident Report for Linode

Postmortem

On March 31, 2025, between 01:20 and 04:20 UTC, customers on Objectstorage sea1 experienced latency issues. Initial investigation identified slow operations on specific OSDs and attempts to restart them did not resolve the problem. Further analysis linked the issue to a large bucket which was misconfigured on the backend and was creating concentrated high load on some cluster components overloading them.

The issue was mitigated at 12:54 UTC on March 31, 2025, after changing settings of the bucket which was identified to be causing the issue .

Akamai will continue to investigate the root cause and take appropriate preventive actions. We apologize for the impact and thank you for your patience and continued support.
