Service Issue - Object Storage in Madrid (ES-MAD)

Postmortem

On January 13, 2025, between approximately 14:18 UTC and 16:29 UTC, customers attempting to access resources in Object Storage in our ES-MAD data center experienced a degradation due to a hardware failure coinciding with a software failure of the monitoring systems which would automatically remedy the hardware degradation. To prevent this issue in the future, we are restructuring the resource allocation strategy of our automated Object Storage software monitoring systems.

This summary provides an overview of our current understanding of the incident given the information available. Our investigation is ongoing and any information herein is subject to change.

Our team has identified an issue which introduced latency to the Object Storage service between 14:18 UTC and 16:29 UTC on January 15, 2025. At this time we have been able to correct the issues affecting the Object Storage service. We will be monitoring this to ensure that it remains stable.
