On November 18, 2025, at approximately 15:50 UTC, customers experienced errors when accessing cloud.linode.com via Akamai Control Center, even after authentication.
Akamai was aware of the issue via the alerting system, and we commenced restoring our services without delay. Access to the Akamai Control Center and the login to cloud.linode.com were restored at approximately 16:45 UTC. After a period of systematic monitoring, we verified that the issue had been effectively mitigated.
Our investigation indicated that the issue originated from a script executed to clean up certain data. However, this script had an adverse effect in production, leading to the observed customer impact.
To prevent a similar issue in the future, Akamai has stopped running such scripts and will conduct an audit to ensure no other scripts cause similar issues. Additionally, we will do an in-depth analysis and implement any improvements in our change strategies.
